Summary

Who am I? Does God see me? Does God love me? What is my purpose?

So much is tied up in our longing to know who we are: our worth, whether we're loved, what we're meant to do with our lives。 But there's a powerful truth that settles every question: God has named us, and the names he has spoken over us settle every question and pain we have experienced in our search for identity。

Names help us know that we belong and to whom we belong。 Names carry a certain authority and power。 But we also carry other names--painful, damaging names that we have spoken over ourselves or that others have branded on us。 Too often, in times of low self-worth, grief, or failure, we exchange our God-given identity for those false names。

When we believe God's names for us, we will discover a life lived with purpose and passion。 Are you ready to accept God's invitation to silence the inner voice that keeps you from living freely, joyfully, and confidently?

A lot is at stake in understanding the sacred truth of who you are。 The names you believe about yourself impact how you live, how you love, and how you move and bear witness to the gospel。

Hear this: God has true names that he speaks over you and wants you to hear above the false banter。

Known invites you to understand and embrace what it means to be created and named in the image of God。 In the process, it will ignite a passion to speak life-giving names over others, to bless them through the power of the Name that is above every other。

With vulnerability and humor, Aubrey Sampson shows you what it means to be powerfully and personally made and named in the image of God。 Everything changes when you believe this incredible truth: You are known by God。

"Known: How Believing Who God Says You Are Changes Everything", by Aubrey Sampson, is an excellent Bible study for women。 We as women spend too much time being concerned about what others around us think of us and what they say we are。 Instead, Sampson encourages women to believe in the things God says about us。 Each chapter began with a new assertion about who we are in Christ。 This was an encouraging and enjoyable book。Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC。 All opinions are my own。 "Known: How Believing Who God Says You Are Changes Everything", by Aubrey Sampson, is an excellent Bible study for women。 We as women spend too much time being concerned about what others around us think of us and what they say we are。 Instead, Sampson encourages women to believe in the things God says about us。 Each chapter began with a new assertion about who we are in Christ。 This was an encouraging and enjoyable book。Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

So often I struggle with outside voices having influence in how I see myself and where I look to for my worth, or validation。 Known helped recenter that for me。 It awakened my soul to the names my Father in heaven calls me。 I am loved, I am valued, I serve a purpose, and I was created on purpose。 I am his beloved creation, a daughter of the most high, and knowing your true worth and identity makes a huge difference in how you hold yourself, and how you live。Highly recommend this book。 After the So often I struggle with outside voices having influence in how I see myself and where I look to for my worth, or validation。 Known helped recenter that for me。 It awakened my soul to the names my Father in heaven calls me。 I am loved, I am valued, I serve a purpose, and I was created on purpose。 I am his beloved creation, a daughter of the most high, and knowing your true worth and identity makes a huge difference in how you hold yourself, and how you live。Highly recommend this book。 After the last 18 months we have been living we can all use the reminder of who our Daddy says we are。 Nicole W。 。。。more

Every time I pick up Aubrey Sampson's latest book - KNOWN, I am thankful I did。 Aubrey's authentic and gentle writing is filled with the truths that I need to hear (and so do others)。 Aubrey shares stories that help me to realize the lies that have been over me and the truths from the Lord I need to not only accept but hold on to。 Thankful for KNOWN and Aubrey。 Every time I pick up Aubrey Sampson's latest book - KNOWN, I am thankful I did。 Aubrey's authentic and gentle writing is filled with the truths that I need to hear (and so do others)。 Aubrey shares stories that help me to realize the lies that have been over me and the truths from the Lord I need to not only accept but hold on to。 Thankful for KNOWN and Aubrey。 。。。more

Aubrey has a powerful, authentic, and tender voice for the hurting, hidden, silent, and maligned。 This book offers answers to questions we didn't even realize we were asking - answers that help us realize and recognize how much God loves us and holds us close to Him even in our most difficult days。 I recommend reading it slowly and giving yourself time to chew in between chapters and sections。 Savor the words, my lovelies。 You won't be disappointed。 Aubrey has a powerful, authentic, and tender voice for the hurting, hidden, silent, and maligned。 This book offers answers to questions we didn't even realize we were asking - answers that help us realize and recognize how much God loves us and holds us close to Him even in our most difficult days。 I recommend reading it slowly and giving yourself time to chew in between chapters and sections。 Savor the words, my lovelies。 You won't be disappointed。 。。。more

Known caught my eye for a couple of reasons。 First, I am drawn to books that dig into one subject and goes in deep。 Also, this was a new author to me, and I like to explore what they bring to the table in their work。 So, I was expecting a work that developed the theme of Known and that is what I found! Developed in 3 parts this book explores who we are, whose we are and how those changes everything。 I was impressed with the outline, and I found it blessed my socks off! Developed in 3 parts this book explores who we are, whose we are and how those changes everything。 I was impressed with the outline, and I found it blessed my socks off! This book met my expectations and then some。 The depth of Aubrey Sampson’s spirit and love for the Word of God comes through very strongly。 I was brought into her spirit as she passionately developed the idea of being Known by God。 Yes, I know that God knows me, He created me! But going about the subject as being known brings it up close, personal, and relevant every day。 The names she uses for being known are comforting, familiar and encouraging。 But it also ignites a call for action as she develops the idea how being known changes everything in our lives。In the chapter titled “Unveiled”, 2 quotes stood out for me。 In her words, “nothing is greater than God can hold” and “suffering leads to a greater unveiling of Jesus image in us”。 This quote from the chapter titled “You Are Sent” also touched my heart, “your beingness, your namedness is essential to your beingness。” Knowing who we are, and knowing our God given names enables us to look and become more like Jesus。 And when you finish reading this book you are challenged to become more like Jesus in your inner and outer life。 I think this book appeals to anyone who wants to explore what it means to be known by God, because you will be able to live a more fulfilling life that reflects the image of God when you understand who you are, whose you are and why that changes everything。 I recommend this book to the seekers of God, and to all who seek encouragement and teachings in how their lives can better reflect the image of God in everyday living。 。。。more

This book is filled with transformational truth! When we come to understand we are deeply and completely known by our creator, the God of the universe, it has the power to change everything! This book shows us that when we live “known” it can change how we experience our own thoughts and feelings, and how we interact in every other relationship in our lives! Thank you Aubrey Sampson for sharing this life-giving message with us!

Aubrey’s words truly are a balm to the soul and come at a time when these words need to be washed over me。 If you have struggled with what it means to be truly known by God then stop and read this piece of art。

I received an early copy of the book。 The topic particularly resonated with me as I am in a season of transition。 So many voices outside of ourselves as well as in our world attempt to define us。 But God who has many names created us as image bearers。 Therefore, the names we cling to should be rooted in what is revealed through the Biblical story。 Aubrey's writing is both scholarly and personal。 She lifts up scriptural names spoken over us and shares them within their contexts。 Yet she shares he I received an early copy of the book。 The topic particularly resonated with me as I am in a season of transition。 So many voices outside of ourselves as well as in our world attempt to define us。 But God who has many names created us as image bearers。 Therefore, the names we cling to should be rooted in what is revealed through the Biblical story。 Aubrey's writing is both scholarly and personal。 She lifts up scriptural names spoken over us and shares them within their contexts。 Yet she shares her own personal illustrations to help the reader understand how those names "flesh" out in our humanity。 I appreciated the way the book is organized and came around full circle to claiming our names through knowing Jesus。 This book deeply spoke to my soul and reminded me that God who created us, gave us names that can never be taken away。 The questions at the end allow for deeper individual and group reflection。 。。。more

This is my second book by Aubrey。 Known is a gorgeous book reminding us that we are known by God, seen by God and deeply loved by God。 Isn’t that one of the deepest desires of our hearts? To be seen and understood and accepted? We are named, beloved, by our good God。 I highly recommend this book!

Aubrey helps readers discover the truth that God says about not only Himself, but themselves as well。 Her words help tear down the false labels and lies that we have taken on and make room for the names that God says are ours。 Every chapter is profound yet practical and this is a book that I will 100% be gifting to dear friends。 In these pages I encountered the beautiful names that God has for me in this season。 I was reminded that He is the God who sees me。 I cannot recommend it enough。

In this second garbage fire of a pandemic year, it’s nice to be reminded of who we are, who God is, and who God has called us to be。 This book is that reminder。 Aubrey writes with such care for her reader and for her story。 She writes with wisdom and knowledge of Scripture, but she also writes with a refreshing vulnerability。 I found comfort and encouragement in these pages, and I’m eager for other readers to be renewed by Aubrey’s words as well。 One of the best parts of this book is the robust In this second garbage fire of a pandemic year, it’s nice to be reminded of who we are, who God is, and who God has called us to be。 This book is that reminder。 Aubrey writes with such care for her reader and for her story。 She writes with wisdom and knowledge of Scripture, but she also writes with a refreshing vulnerability。 I found comfort and encouragement in these pages, and I’m eager for other readers to be renewed by Aubrey’s words as well。 One of the best parts of this book is the robust reflection and discussion guide in the back。 This is a book meant to be read in community。 Because I was given the privilege of reading the book before publication date, I haven’t been able to read it with my people yet, but I’m excited to do so now。 The weather might finally cool off in Arizona soon, and I look forward to getting together in the cool evenings with some friends to read and reflect on this special book。  。。。more

Recently I snapped up an ARC of Aubrey Sampson’s forthcoming (September 7) book Known: How Believing Who God Says You Are Changes Everything。 The title promised what I indeed found inside its pages: an exposition of Truth that has cloaked and nourished and fortified me for decades now。 Truth that says this:You and I are beloved。 Named。 Known。 All with tenderness, power, forgiveness and intimacy that usurps every lie we may have believed about ourselves。 Unfortunately, in a world as broken and li Recently I snapped up an ARC of Aubrey Sampson’s forthcoming (September 7) book Known: How Believing Who God Says You Are Changes Everything。 The title promised what I indeed found inside its pages: an exposition of Truth that has cloaked and nourished and fortified me for decades now。 Truth that says this:You and I are beloved。 Named。 Known。 All with tenderness, power, forgiveness and intimacy that usurps every lie we may have believed about ourselves。 Unfortunately, in a world as broken and lie-riddled as ours, we may miss the beautiful names the Lord gives us that affirm how well he knows us and how deeply he loves us。 Or we may refuse those names。 Doing either will keep us from our true identities and purpose。 Author Sampson understands this, and so, in the first part of her book, she systematically makes the case for who we are, whose we are, and how those facts can alter our lived realities。 Corroborating her case with Scripture, she clinches the deal so convincingly that many readers will gladly give their intellectual assent。 But。 Believing something rationally is a far cry from absorbing Truth into one’s being so that it becomes a lived reality。 Sampson knows this, too。 In response, she provides the second section of the book, her marvelous Reflection and Discussion Guide, which, when patiently, prayerfully digested, will usher readers into a new level of personal growth—and nearness to God。 It’s here, through this discussion guide, that the book becomes more than just another well-written, informative work of Christian non-fiction。 Fully employed, it will make this book transformative for those who absorb its gift。Whether you read this book individually or in groups, take your time with it, and own what’s inside。 You’ll never be the same。 。。。more
